The first day- 13/12/23

So as of the first day I decided it would be better to get all the voiceovers that I had to do done with because then in this way my part is out of the way and then I can later go onto focusing on the main stuff such as filming the interviews and recording the clips that I need to record. So I booked all the sound equipment that I needed in order to film my voiceovers this is the sound kit that I will use throughout my documentary. After I collected the equipment I went and asked reception if there were any room free that I could use in order to record these voiceovers, luckily there was one free so I went over to there and started recording all the voiceovers I had to record. Fortunately, I was able to get this done there. The only problems I faced that I usually tend to face when I am recording voiceovers is stuttering I had to keep recording again because I would mess up what I am saying by stuttering even though I had the script in front of me. Besides that it was all alright. There was also computers in that room so right after I recorded the voiceovers that I had to do I uploaded them into my files.

Here I used different faces this is to create link between how mental health can have like different faces hence I decided to use this for the clip where I will have my title.

Moving further since I had a really long break that day due to the collapsed timetable I was able to get a lot of filming done as well on that exact day. So before I already had the sound equipment so all I needed to book was a camera and tripod so I went and did that. So with this time I was able to record an interview of my friend because thankfully she was also available during this time so we did that. And during this time I had enough time to also film the random clips that I needed to include as part of like my introduction because I didn't have a fixed clip that I was going to do because it didn't work out on the handy cam the initial idea I had for the introduction so I decided to try and film other random clips and see what I could get out and see which ones I liked.

So the next day I decided to edit the audio that I had recorded so that when I add it onto my documentary it sounds even more clear and that there aren't any background noises within the audios. So this editing of the audio I did this for my voiceovers as well as the interview of my friend that I had recorded. As I was editing the main features that I worked with was adjusting the volume so each of the audios have a similar sound and their not louder then each other or anything because it needs to be consistent throughout, but besides that I also used the effect on audition that allows me to remove any background noises that may be heard in the recorded audios.

So the day after I had booked an interview with a college counsellor that I was able to do on that day during my break. This interview did go relatively well but the only main issues were with the lighting. Since in the beginning I had decided that I will be using natural lighting throughout my documentary because many of the clips were outdoors or taking place beside a window where light was able to get through. But I didn't expect that the lighting was going to be so dark inside her room because it was quite inside so there was barely any lighting inside that room. So I was considering I might have to re shoot the whole interview again. But besides that I think the audio and what she said within that interview was quite good.

So on this day there were a few more scene shots that I still had to film to go over this voiceover that I would be using and I was managed to be able to film a couple of different clips and see which one would work well to use for that certain news reporter voiceover. And then as I was filming I also filmed some of Bea's interview and clip of her walking over which I will eventually slow down when editing and on top of that I would be adding a voiceover. Besides that we were able to find an empty room with a white background for the interview which I was able to film successfully. And then as far as for the other clips with the voiceovers I made them work whilst editing and made them into a sort of transition.

So unfortunately I had to re film some of the clips of Bea because the sound footage had been lost so I decided why not just re film everything because I didn't like the quality of the previous interview as much anyways. So I decided to re do the whole thing and it came out a lot better compared to before and I think the lighting aspect is also better in this interview compared to the other one. This also meant new sound recordings which I did obviously as I was recording the interview of Bea.

After receiving my grade and feedback on the EPQ my teacher fond that one of the clips which is one of the interviews of the teacher wasn't that good like the lighting was quite bad. And I highly agree wit this because I think that clip even when editing could've just been so much more better. So one of the feedback I received was to re shoot that video. But I was unable to do so because the teacher had timings that I was unavailable during because it would go onto my lesson timings for media and we are not supposed to be still filming for EPQ during lesson time now because of the final major project. Now because of that I was not able to re film that scene but I still made sure that I work on all of the rest of the feedback and get it done as soon as possible and to my bets standard and work on what I can in the meantime, which I have successfully been able to do.
